The Toshiba CF3R printhead has established itself as a high-performance solution for industrial inkjet printing systems that demand consistent quality and long-term stability. Designed as the water-cooled flagship of the CF3 series, it combines full-channel ink recirculation with native 600 dpi resolution to support demanding applications such as UV packaging, label printing, decorative materials, and direct-to-object marking. Its compact form factor and flexible nozzle configuration make it suitable for both scanning and single-pass architectures.
A defining advantage of the CF3R is its internal circulation structure, which keeps ink flowing continuously across the nozzle plate. This design helps prevent pigment sedimentation, removes trapped air bubbles, and reduces the risk of nozzle clogging during extended production runs. For operations using high-viscosity or high-pigment inks such as UV white ink, ceramic ink, and specialty coatings, this capability significantly improves uptime and reduces cleaning frequency.
Print quality is supported by a maximum firing frequency of 9.2 kHz, droplet sizes ranging from 3 to 20 pL, and six-level grayscale control. These features enable smooth tonal transitions, sharp text reproduction, and consistent image density even at higher line speeds. The printhead can operate in a single-color 600 NPI mode or a dual-color 300 NPI mode, giving system integrators flexibility when balancing resolution, color channels, and throughput.
Thermal management is another important factor in industrial environments. The CF3R incorporates a water-cooling module and a built-in temperature sensor, allowing closed-loop control of printhead temperature during continuous operation. Stable thermal performance helps maintain droplet velocity and placement accuracy, which is especially important when printing fine graphics, variable data, or high-density solid areas.
